Men's Rowing Falls to Brown in Michalson Cup

Providence - The Boston University men's rowing team saw its two year hold on the Michalson Cup end Saturday morning when the Terriers' varsity eight boat lost to Brown by open water. Before Saturday, BU had defeated Brown 2 out of the last 3 times the teams met, winning the Cup in 2009 and 2011.

Coxed by junior Justin Rau and stroked by senior Matt Given, the Terriers' varsity eight finished 10 seconds behind Brown's V8 which was ranked as high as No. 2 in 2012.

Earlier in the day, the Terriers' second freshman eight boat defeated Brown by 18 seconds before Brown rebounded with wins over BU in the third varsity eight and second varsity eight races.

The Terriers will return home and compete next against Northeastern on Saturday, April 13 at the DeWolfe Boathouse.
