Inside BU Hockey - Episode 12
BOSTON - For the first time in nearly six years, the Boston University men's ice hockey team will take on Dartmouth, as the Big Green visits Agganis Arena on Wednesday (Jan. 8). Game time is set for 7 p.m.
BU (7-9-2) and Dartmouth (2-11-2) last met on Jan. 15, 2008, when the visiting Big Green posted a 3-2 victory at Agganis to snap a nine-game losing streak (8-0-1) in the all-time series. The former ECAC mates have met 76 times with BU holding a 44-30-2 advantage.
The Terriers will be looking to snap a winless streak that was extended to four games (0-3-1) on Saturday with a 7-4 loss at Harvard.
Wednesday's tilt will be BU's final non-conference home game of the season. The Terriers' only other scheduled games outside of Hockey East are the two Beanpot contests next month.
BU is the Big Green's fourth of five straight Hockey East opponents to close out its non-conference slate. Dartmouth is 0-3-2 in its last five contests and opened the season with eight straight losses before stringing back-to-back wins against Harvard and Yale. Most recently, the Big Green battled Vermont to a 1-1 draw in Burlington on Friday.
Despite its record, Dartmouth boasts the ninth-best power play in the nation, operating at a 22.8-percent success rate.
The Big Green is paced offensively by junior Eric Neiley who leads the squads in both points (13) and goals (9). Classmate Brandon McNally has added eight points on the strength of a team-best seven assists.
Sophomore Charles Grant has earned the start in goal in 10 of Dartmouth's games this season and sports a 3.59 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage.
BU's power play has converted on four of its past five chances to raise its percentage to .233, which ranks seventh in the nation and first among Hockey East teams.
Sophomore defenseman Ahti Oksanen has three points (1g, 2a) over the past two games and now leads BU with 14 points on three goals and 11 assists. He and Bentley's Steve Weinstein are the only two defensemen in the nation to lead their respective teams in points.
