BU Makes Strides for Breast Cancer

October 6, 2014

Oct. 6, 2014 BOSTON - After coming home from Lehigh late Saturday night, the Boston University women's soccer team was up early to volunteer at the Making Strides Walk for Breast Cancer on Sunday at the Charles River Esplanade.

After volunteering last year with some fellow Terriers, sophomore goalkeeper Bridget Conway decided to get the whole team on board for this year's event. Their job as volunteers was to keep the energy high and encourage walkers to get through the finish line.

"We cheered on hundreds of walkers to finish the walk and the survivors, caregivers and supporters were all incredible people," Conway said.

All of the money raised at the event goes to research for breast cancer and is donated to the American Cancer Society.

"It was a great and truly humbling experience for our team," Conway said. "Cancer is a close topic within our team, as we have had many team members with family affected by it. It was an event close to our hearts and we loved to volunteer to support a great cause!"
