SATURDAY'S RESULTS

The Boston University men's rowing team ended a successful fall season on Saturday, winning the third varsity eight and taking 3rd in the varsity four at the Foot of the Charles on a cold Saturday morning. The Foot of the Charles is an organized 2.5 mile time trial between Boston area schools and Brown University.

In the varsity four, the Terriers’ “A” boat, coxed by Lauren Harvey and stroked by Fionan McQuillan-Tolan, finished in third place behind winner Northeastern and second-place Harvard. The BU “B”, “C” and “D” boats finished 8th, 13th and 15th respectively.

Later in the morning, BU’s third varsity eight boat, coxed by Justin Goucher and stroked by freshman Max Ponsen, finished with the best time of 12:22.6 in a field of nine, defeating Northeasternt by 19 seconds. Also in the eights race, the Terriers’ “B” finished in 4th place. The Terriers’ “C”  boat which was comprised of 5 walk-ons finished a respectable 7th place.

“Our 3V raced the best out of all our boats on Saturday. The boat was comprised of 5 freshmen and they really raced hungry and wanted to prove they had some speed,” said head coach Thomas Bohrer. “We really thought we could have won the four event, so it was disappointing to finish 3rd. Overall, the fall produced some really solid results for the program, it would have been even better to cap it off with a win in the four.”

The Terriers' fall season has been a very successful one. In addition to the top-three finishes on Saturday, BU recorded a 4th place finish among college crews in the championship eight race at the Head of the Charles Regatta, a 3rd place finish in the varsity eight and a 1st place in the varsity 4 at the Princeton 3-Mile Chase.

With their fall schedule concluded, the Terriers will focus on final exams and preparations for the spring season, which will begin on March 14, 2014, vs. Navy in Clemson, S.C. Over break, the Terriers plan to travel to Florida in January for training.
