Autism Speaks and Boston University will once again team up for Autism Awareness this Saturday, Feb. 15, as both the men's and women's hockey teams will play games at Agganis Arena promoting Autism awareness. The double header begins with the women's game vs. Providence beginning at 3 p.m. followed by the men's game vs. UNH starting at 7 p.m.

The outside of Agganis Arena will be lighted blue, the color for Autism Awareness, during Saturday's games. Autism Speaks will have tables in the concourse area with merchandise and an Autism Speaks banner will hang in the arena. In addition, families from Autism Speaks will be in attendance at both games.

During the men's game, former BU head coach Jack Parker's number will be retired and Autism Speaks executive director, Russ Kenn, will present Coach Parker with an award for building such a strong partnership.

Since 2004, the Boston University Men's Ice Hockey Team has partnered with Autism Speaks to raise autism awareness and compassion through private practice sessions, meet-and-greets, building playgrounds, and volunteering for the Greater Boston Walk Now for Autism Speaks, the organization's signature event.  The Terriers have been wearing the Autism Speaks puzzle-piece logo on the left shoulders of their jerseys since December, 2011.

In addition to partnering with the BU athletics department and hockey team, Autism Speaks has provided more than $1.1M in scientific grants into the causes of and treatments for autism.
