BOSTON - Amy Coleman, formerly an associate director of Olympic sports operations at the University of California - Berkeley, has been named the director of operations for the Boston University women's basketball team, first-year head coach Katy Steding announced.
"I am very pleased that Amy has chosen to become part of our Terrier Family," Steding said. "I've chosen people for our program who operate at the highest level and anyone who knows Amy knows that she is thoughtful and hard-working. Her marketing capabilities and experiences will be a terrific asset to our growing program."
During the past two years at Cal, Coleman provided daily operational support to the Golden Bear men's and women's rowing, rugby and track & field programs. She also oversaw all Cal athletic camps, in which she serviced 20 sports and over 5,000 campers.
"I am thrilled to be joining Katy and the BU Women's Basketball program," Coleman said. "The opportunity to both come home to Boston and to work with such a high-caliber staff was an ideal combination for me, and I look forward to supporting the coaches and student-athletes in every way possible."
Prior to her second go-round at Cal, Coleman served as an administrative intern at her alma mater, Boston College, where she directly supported one of the senior associate athletic directors and provided program and game day management support for several sports. She originally spent time in Berkeley in the summer of 2010 as an intern with the department.
Coleman began her career in sports with Town Sports International, serving as the sports club for kids program manager at one of their Boston Sports Clubs locations.
A native of Natick, Mass., she received her masters in business administration and sports management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 2011 and her bachelors in management from Boston College in 2006. While attending BC, she was a member of the rugby team.
Her hiring marks the completion of Steding's staff, as she joins previously named assistant coaches Cindy Blodgett, Taj McWilliams-Franklin and Stephanie Tobey.
