The Boston University field hockey team will kick off its Patriot League schedule on Saturday (Sept. 20) with a visit to Lafayette. The game, which will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network, starts at noon.

The Terriers (2-3) have been on a week-long break from competition since dropping a hard-fought 2-1 overtime contest to No. 15 Boston College on Sept. 12. BU has alternated wins and losses throughout the season thus far and all three of its losses have come against ranked teams.

Lafayette enters Saturday's contest with a record of 4-2, including a season-opening triumph over Boston College. The Leopards are coming off a 5-1 road loss to No. 6 Penn State on Sunday.

Last year, in the first-ever meeting between the two schools, BU posted a 2-0 home win over Lafayette to close out the regular season.

This year's Lafayette squad is led offensively by sophomore Amanda Magadan (4g, 1a) and senior Kelsey Mead (3g, 3a) with nine points apiece.

Senior back Brittany Blass was named the Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year and was joined on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team by classmate Jenna Seybert, who leads the nation in defensive saves with four.

In goal, senior Jessica Deutsch has started all six games and sports a 2.14 goals-against average and .647 save percentage.

Sophomore Amanda Cassera leads BU in goals (3) and points (6) while junior Sofi Laurito has five points on two goals and an assist.

After Saturday's game in Easton, the Terriers will head back to Boston before hosting Yale on Sunday at 4 p.m.
