BOSTON - Senior Dominique Badji capped a stellar week with a pair of goals to help the Boston University men's soccer team post a 2-2 draw against Princeton on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field. Extending their unbeaten streak to three games, the Terriers move to 4-2-1, while the Tigers now sit at 1-2-2.

In an uptempo game featuring a combined 12 offsides calls, the striker Badji scored in the eighth and 36th minutes, respectively, to give BU a 2-0 advantage. However, the Tigers used a luck break and a stellar shot from Thomas Sanner to earn goals of their own in the 41st and 66th minutes, respectively, to escape with the tie.

Sophomore David Asbjornsson set up the first goal by intercepting a pass at midfield and quickly driving toward Princeton's goal. After receiving the pass on the left side, Badji got around a defender and rifled a low blast past a diving Ben Hummel from a few yards out toward the right post.

Badji left the field for a few minutes due to a bloodied uniform from a collision but came back to give the Terriers the 2-0 lead at 35:32. Freshman David Amirani lofted a cross into the box for Badji to head in for his second goal of the game. His two scores occurred after he recorded a goal and assist in Tuesday's 2-1 win at Northeastern.

Averaging two goals a game, the Tigers mounted their rally in the 41st minute when Josh Miller sent a long ball past mifield to Thomas Sanner, who despite being surround by multiple Terriers was able to fire a shot from 20 yards out toward the bottom right corner. BU entered the locker room with a 5-3 advantage in shots and 4-1 lead in corners.

Early in the second half, the Terriers almost extended the lead back to two goals. During a counter attack, senior Jordan Barker sent a long pass to Badji, who flew into the box. While being sent to the ground, he flicked a cross over toward junior Lucas McBride on the right side. McBride dove to beat the running keeper but his flicker off his right foot nailed the crossbar. He got up quickly and tried to send in the rebound but had a mishit that led to a goal kick in the 56th minute.

Still in the game, the Tigers sent a cross toward BU's box with only one offensive player in position. Senior keeper Nick Thomson moved up to punch it out but was knocked down in the process. Unmarked, Princeton's Brendan McSherry collected the ball and sent it to the back of the net for an easy goal from 25 yards out at 65:21.

Badji tried to add a third goal in the final minute of regulation but his attempt from the left side during a counter attack was stopped by Hummel. Both the Princeton keeper and Thomson finished the game with two saves apiece. Despite the Terriers owning a 9-5 advantage in corners, the Tigers had a 15-14 edge in shot attempts.

After facing Princeton for the first time in program history, BU will remain at home and next open Patriot League play at home against Navy on Saturday (Sept. 27) with action slated for 7 p.m.

Prior to the game, a ceremony will be held to recognize head coach Neil Roberts reaching the 30-year milestone as the leader of the program. An alumni game will be held earlier in the day at 3:30 p.m.
