Terriers in the NHL
The second week of the National Hockey League season saw former Boston University Terrier John Hynes get his first win behind the New Jersey Devils bench in a 2-1 overtime victory against the New York Rangers.
Elsewhere, four games took place in which former BU skaters squared off. Brian Strait's New York Islanders topped both Matt Nieto's San Jose Sharks and Colin Wilson's Nashville Predators. Pittsburgh (Adam Clendening, Nick Bonino) and Nashville (Colin Wilson) both topped the Alex Chiasson and the Ottawa Senators
Nick Bonino (PIT)
• Has played in all of Pittsburgh's games this season and skated a season-high 25 shifts in the Penguins' first win of the season over Ottawa
• Is third on the team with a 52.6 faceoff win percentage
Alex Chiasson (OTT)
• Skated a season-high 16:01 in the Senators' shootout loss to Nashville and was second on the team with four shots on goal
• Continues to rank in the top 10 of the NHL with a +4 turnover ratio
Adam Clendening (PIT)
• Skated 13:01 and had a +1 rating against Ottawa in his first action of the season to lead Pittsburgh to its first win of the year
Charlie Coyle (MIN)
• Has played in all of Minnesota's games so far
• Is third on the Wild with a 25% shot percentage
Jack Eichel (BUF)
• Leads all rookie forwards with 24.4 shifts for game
• His 19:14 time-on-ice per game is second overall amongst rookies
• Has seen at least 18 minutes of ice in all five of Buffalo's games this season
Eric Gryba (EDM)
• Registered his first point of the season with an assist against Calgary
• Leads the Oilers with nine penalty minutes
Matt Nieto (SJS)
• Notched his third point of the season with an assist against the Islanders on 10/17
Kevin Shattenkirk (STL)
• Suffered a lower body injury against the Flames on 10/13
• Remains at 199 career points
Brian Strait (NYI)
• Averaging 3.5 hits per game for the Islanders, who are second in the league with 40 hits per game
Colin Wilson (NSH)
• Earned an assist in Nashville's shootout win over Tampa Bay on 10/20
• Registered three shots on goal in Nashville's shootout win over Ottawa
• Averaging 2.2 hits per 60 minutes of ice time
