BOSTON – Concluding a two-game homestand, the Boston University men's soccer team will host Colgate on Wednesday with action set to begin at 7 p.m.
Last season, the Raiders edged the Terriers by one point in the Patriot League standings to claim the conference regular season title despite falling at home to BU in OT. Through two PL games this year with seven remaining, BU finds itself five points behind both American and Loyola Maryland after last Saturday's 2-0 loss to the Eagles. The Raiders have also fallen to AU (3-0) on the road but currently are two points ahead of BU due to a 1-0 victory over Lehigh.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Despite suffering its first shutout loss of the season on Saturday, BU ranks third in the Patriot League in scoring average at 1.50 goals per game.
- During the two-game losing streak, the Terriers have combined for 18 shots after tallying 18 at Bucknell ... Senior Matt Gilbert has also recorded 18 total saves in the two contests after posting 19 combined stops in the previous five games.
- One of five Terriers to score this season, junior Anthony Viteri ranks second in the PL in goals per game at .625 and third in points per game at 1.38.
- Sophomore Magnus Benediktsson leads the PL in assists per game at .571.
- Gilbert sits atop the conference in saves per game at 5.25 and third in save percentage (.778) while also posting a 1.48 goals against average.
SCOUTING COLGAITE
- All nine Colgate games this season have featured a shutout with the Raiders blanking Siena and Monmouth on the road by a combined score of 5-0 ... They've also fallen to American and then-No. 6 Syracuse by a combined score of 6-0.
- Besides already facing the Eagles, the Raiders share one other opponent with BU in UMass ... They claimed a 2-0 home win over the Minutemen, who dropped a 2-1 decision at BU back in September.
- Reigning PL Offensive Player of the Year Ethan Kutler is one of eight Raiders to have found the back of the net this season and leads with three goals and six points, while Jared Stroud owns three assists and one goal for five points.
- Ricky Brown has started eight of the nine games and owns a 1.13 goals against average with 0.719 save percentage and five shutouts.
- The Raiders have dominated opponents in shot attempts, 14.3-8.8, but only own two more goals so far.
