No. 15 Terriers Earn 2-1 Road Win over Bucknell

October 8, 2016

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 15 Boston University field hockey team scored once in each half to snap a four-game skid and earn a 2-1 road victory over Bucknell on Saturday.

THE RUNDOWN

Final Score: #15 Boston University 2, Bucknell 1
Records: BU (8-4, 2-1 PL), Bucknell (4-7, 1-2 PL)
Location: Graham Field – Lewisburg, Pa.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Senior Amanda Cassera opened the scoring in the 21st minute and junior Allie Renzi added what would be a key insurance goal with 15 minutes left in regulation to lift the Terriers to the 2-1 victory.
  • After Renzi's tally made it a 2-0 contest, the Bison got on the board with 7:40 remaining in regulation.
  • BU hung on and earned its second Patriot League victory of the season, ending a four-game losing streak in the process.
  • Senior Hester van der Laan set up Cassera's goal, dribbling through the Bucknell defense before penetrating the circle up the middle. She drew in a defender and passed off to Cassera on the left side, where she sent home her team-leading sixth goal of the season at the 20:15 mark.
  • Renzi's marker came off one of BU's six penalty corners, as the junior collected a rebound off a shot by senior Taylor Blood and had a wide open shot that she converted at 55:00 for her fifth goal of the season.
  • Bucknell's Nicole Rupnik took advantage of a breakaway in the 63rd minute and ended senior goalkeeper Cammy Jensen's shutout bid.

GAME NOTES

  • BU held a commanding 13-3 shot advantage and earned six corners while giving up three.
  • Jensen only faced one other shot on goal, finishing the day with one save.
  • Emily Finn made one save in goal for the Bison.
