TERRIERS RETURN HOME, AIM FOR WEEKEND SWEEP OF UCONN
• Boston University, now 5-1-1 in its past seven games, aims for a weekend sweep of Connecticut following a 2-1 win in Hartford on Friday.
• The Terriers are undefeated in their first three Hockey East contests for just the second time since 2002, as the 2010-11 team went 4-0-4 in its first eight league games.
• The Terriers enter Saturday's contest on a nine-game home winning streak, the longest in Agganis Arena history. BU is 19-2-2 in its past 23 home contests.
• BU's last 10-game home win streak was at Walter Brown Arena and started on Feb. 28, 1997, before ending on Dec. 9 later that year.
• The Terriers and Huskies have six prior meetings and BU is 4-1-1 in them, including a 2-0-1 mark at Agganis Arena.
• The teams split their league series last season with BU earning a 4-2 home win before suffering a 5-2 loss in Hartford three days later.
• The Huskies opened their season with a two-game home sweep of Alabama Huntsville on Oct. 7-8 but their only other win in the 10 games since came at Notre Dame in their Hockey East opener on Oct. 27. Five of those 10 contests have resulted in ties.
• Sophomore Tage Thompson leads the team in both points (14) and goals (7) while classmate Maxim Letunov has 11 points on four goals and seven assists. Senior Evan Richardson has added 10 points (4g, 6a).
• Senior Rob Nichols and freshman Adam Huska have split starts in goal this season and Nichols holds the edge in goals-against average (2.35 - 3.11) while both sport a .916 save percentage.
• Last night in Hartford, first-period goals from sophomore Jordan Greenway and freshman Gabriel Chabot gave the Terriers a cushion they would not relinquish and junior goaltender Connor LaCouvee stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced to pick up the win in his first start of the season.
• Greenway's bid from the top of the right circle was redirected through traffic and sailed over the shoulder of UConn netminder Rob Nichols just 3:28 into the contest.
• Just as freshman Patrick Curry drew a penalty in the slot, Chabot corralled the loose puck and wristed a shot from the right side that found the far corner of the net for his first collegiate goal at 16:01 of the first.
• With 13:04 left in regulation, the Huskies spoiled LaCouvee's shutout bid when Spencer Naas converted from the left dot following a cross-ice pass by Benjamin Freeman.
• Freshman Patrick Harper assisted on Greenway's tally to bump his team-best point total to 15 (5g, 10a). He ranks tied for eighth in the nation in points per game at 1.50. Harper is the reigning Hockey East Rookie of the Week after his three-point (1g, 2a) effort in last Saturday's 4-2 win at Michigan.
• Greenway now has a team-high six goals this season, surpassing his rookie total of five. He has 12 points (5g, 7a) over the past seven games and he is tied for the nation lead in game-winning goals with three.
• Over half (17) of BU's 33 goals thus far have come in the third period.
