BOSTON - For the third time in four years, Boston University and American will face off in the Patriot League field hockey title game. The Terriers will aim for a third straight league crown on Sunday (Nov. 6) at New Balance Field. Game time is set for noon.

Admission is free for all fans and the game will be broadcast live on the Patriot League Network.

Both teams - the top two seeds - advanced to the title game with one-goal wins in the semifinal round on Friday. BU (13-5) used a 70th-minute goal from senior Hester van der Laan to post a 2-1 victory over Bucknell before a first-half goal by American (12-6) stood up in 1-0 win over Holy Cross.

This is a rematch of last year's battle for the Patriot League crown as BU successfully defended its 2014 crown with a 2-1 victory over the Eagles at New Balance Field. The home team has won both previous title meetings as American earned a 3-0 triumph against the Terriers in 2013 at Jacobs Field in Washington, D.C.

Since that loss, BU has reeled off five straight victories over the Eagles, including a 2-1 road win last Saturday to clinch the regular-season title and the top seed. The Terriers are 9-2 in 11 all-time meetings with the Eagles in a series that dates back to 1997. Both losses occurred in 2013.

The Eagles are led by senior Natalie Konerth, now a two-time Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Konerth has team highs in both points (27) and goals (13). Those totals both rank second among Patriot League players.

Konerth was joined on the All-Patriot League First Team by sophomore Rafaela Rubas, who has 23 points on eight goals and seven assists, and junior back Angela Virtu. Juniors Leah DiGiandomenico - a PL second-team pick - and Haley Bowcutt each have seven goals on the year.

Sophomore Maura Jacobs is the Eagles' primary netminder and enters Sunday with a 1.90 goals-against average and a .691 save percentage.

The Terriers have flourished with a balanced offense all year long as nine players have scored at least three goals each. Senior Amanda Cassera, who earned her third-straight All-PL honor earlier this week, has 22 points on nine goals and four assists to top BU's scoring list. Classmates Hester van der Laan (7g, 5a) and Taylor Blood (4g, 7a), both All-PL first-team honorees, have registered 19 and 15 points, respectively.

Senior Cammy Jensen has started all 18 games in goal for BU and has given up one or zero goals in 14 of them. Her goals-against average of 1.21 ranks sixth in the nation while her .732 save percentage is in the top 25.

A win on Sunday would allow the Terriers win three consecutive conference titles for the second time in program history (2005-07).
