WEST POINT, N.Y. - Despite 11 points by Corrine Williams, the Boston University women's basketball team could not make up for an early deficit and dropped a 72-38 decision to Army West Point on Wednesday night at Christl Arena.
The Terriers started out the game on a 5-0 run with a 3-pointer by sophomore Meghan Doogan and a layup by sophomore Corrine Williams on their first two possessions, but the Black Knights went on an 11-2 run to open a 11-7 lead and didn't look back. Army shot 67 percent from behind the 3-point line in the first quarter to establish a 22-11 lead.
The Terriers battled hard in the second quarter, led by 6 points and 5 rebounds from sophomore Kara Sheftic but went into the locker room down 39-24.
The Black Knights were led early by senior guard Kelsey Minato, who had 17 points in the first half on her way to a game-high 28.
The Terriers shot 27.3 percent (15-55) from the field while the Black Knights went 45.2 percent (28-62) overall. BU was 3-for-9 from three point range while Army went 9-21 from beyond the arc.
With the win, Army (24-2, 15-1 PL) remains in first place in the Patriot League while the Terriers (3-24, 3-13 PL) continue their search for their fourth win of the season.
BU will get another crack at the Black Knights in their final regular-season game of the year at home on March 2.
The Terriers next game is scheduled for Feb. 27 at Holy Cross. Tip off is set for 1 p.m.
