Terriers to Visit Bucknell Saturday in PL Opener

BOSTON – Seeking its first road win of the season, the Boston University men's soccer team will open the Patriot League schedule at Bucknell on Saturday with a 1 p.m. start time. The Terriers (3-2-0) are coming off Tuesday's 2-0 win over Brown, while the Bison are coming off a 3-0 loss at St. Franics (Pa.).

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is 0-2 on the road so far with a 3-2 loss at then-No. 8 Boston College and 2-1 defeat at Princeton.
  • Selected to finish second in the Patriot League preseason poll, the Terriers are 1-1-1 in PL openers and coming off last year's 6-1-2 conference mark.
  • Three of the five Terriers who have scored have found the back of the net at least twice – junior Anthony Viteri (4g), senior Felix De Bona (2g) and freshman Matt McDonnell (2g).
  • Sophomore Magnus Benediktsson leads BU with four assists and is second on team with six points behind Viteri's nine.
  • Senior Matt Gilbert recorded five saves in Tuesday's shutout against the Bears to improve his save percentage to .700 and goals against average to 1.22.

  • Bucknell was selected to finish sixth in the PL preseason poll after going 3-3-3 last year.
  • Nick King owns a team-high two goals and is one of six Bison to score.
  • Seven different players have claimed an assist.
  • Bucknell has been shut out twice and blanked one opponent.
  • Goalkeeper Tyler Marchiano (1-4-1) has started six games and owns a 2.10 GAA and .625 save percentage ... Emmett Witmer (1-1-0) owns a 1.20 GAA and .667 save percentage in two starts.
SERIES HISTORY
  • LAST MEETING: Sept. 27, 2015 – @ BU 1, Bucknell 1 (2OT)
    • The Terriers finished with a 28-9 advantage in shot attempts but only came away with a draw.
    • Bucknell struck first in the 15th minute off a penalt kick, and Jeroen Blugh ('15) came back nine minutes leader to head in Mark Wadid's corner.
  • The Bison are 2-0-2 in the series that started once the Terriers joinined the PL in the summer of 2013.
  • All four meetings have headed to overtime with the lone meeting at Bucknell finishing in a draw.
