Final Score: #17 Boston University 2, Miami 1
Records: BU (4-0), Miami (2-3)
Location: New Balance Field – Boston, Mass.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Senior Amanda Cassera tallied goals in the 35th and 49th minutes to help the Terriers post a 2-1 win over Miami and improve to 4-0 on the year.
  • The RedHawks got on the board in the 62nd minute to cut the BU lead to 2-1 but the home team prevailed.
  • In the final minute of the opening half with Miami down a player due to a yellow card, sophomore Kara Enoch took a pass from freshman Kiley Gallagher just outside the circle on the left side. Enoch dribbled and sent the ball to the near post, where Cassera was there to poke it past Miami goalkeeper Alysa Xavier at the 34:07 mark.
  • Cassera doubled the lead in the second half when she received a feed from sophomore Allie Doggett, who penetrated the circle along the right end line and found Cassera above the right post. Cassera guided a low shot to the boards at 48:28.
  • The RedHawks spoiled senior Cammy Jensen's shutout bid off a corner with 8:52 left in regulation. A shot at the top of the circle by Mariona Heras deflected off a BU defender and in with an assist coming from Carla Romagosa.
  • BU earned a late corner and Cassera nearly had a hat trick, but her tip-in attempt at the right post was wide of the cage.
