Terriers Defeated at Merrimack, 4-1

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - Junior Victoria Bach scored her 17th goal of the season, but the Boston University women's ice hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision at Merrimack on Saturday night at Lawler Rink.

GOAL-BY-GOAL

  • Merrimack struck first at the 5:31 mark of the opening frame.
  • Bach answered with a power-play goal with 5:22 to play in the first period. Senior Samantha Sutherland cycled the puck to classmate Maddie Elia below the goal line. Elia used a slick behind-the-back pass to find Bach in front, and the junior calmly finished for her 17th goal of the season.
  • Mikyla Grant-Mentis completed a hat trick with a pair of goals just 10 seconds apart midway through the second period to give Merrimack a 3-1 lead.
  • The Terriers pulled senior goaltender Victoria Hanson (28 saves) late in the third with a power-play chance to create a 6-on-4 advantage, but Merrimack scored an empty-netter to create the 4-1 final.

GAME NOTES

  • Bach extended her point streak to three games with her goal.
  • Sutherland also moved her point streak to three games thanks to her helper.
  • Elia had an assist in her first game since Jan. 7 and is now four points from 100 for her career.
  • The Terriers outshot Merrimack, 37-32.
