No. 22 Field Hockey Visits Lehigh Saturday

The No. 22 Boston University field hockey team will look to secure a third straight Patriot League regular-season title when it visits Lehigh on Saturday (Oct. 21). Game time at Ulrich Field is set for 1 p.m.

The Terriers are alone at the top of the Patriot League standings at 4-0 and need just one win in their final two league contests to earn the right to host the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed. BU is coming off a hard-fought 3-2 overtime loss to No. 10 Boston College on Sunday and is 9-6 overall.

The Mountain Hawks are 4-10 overall with a 1-3 PL mark and need a victory on Saturday to stay in the hunt for a league tournament berth. The lone conference was a big one, however, as they snapped a 12-year losing streak to their arch rival, Lafayette. Most recently, Lehigh posted a 3-2 home victory over Georgetown on Sunday. 

BU is 4-0 all-time against Lehigh will all four meetings taking place since the Terriers joined the Patriot League in 2013. After a 3-1 victory in the first-ever meeting. the Terriers have posted three straight shutouts against the Mountain Hawks. 

Lehigh's offense is paced junior Teresa Carotenuto, who has 15 points on seven goals and one assist. Nine of her points have come in the past three contests. Freshman Drew Pecora has added 10 points on four goals and two assists while fellow rookie Lenke Havas has registered a goal and two assists. 

Three different Mountain Hawks have spent time in goal this season and that trio is led by Paige Innarella, who has a 2.38 goals-against average and a .690 save percentage in 13 games, including 10 starts. 

The Terriers' balanced offensive attack now includes 12 players who have scored at least one goal and six of which with double-digit points. Freshman Ailsa Connolly has nine goals on just 17 shots for a team-best 18 points and senior co-captain Kali Shumock is second on the team in points with three goals and eight assists. Shumock, who is tied for the lead in assists among Patriot League players, had a five-game point streak come to an end in Sunday's setback to BC. 

In goal, junior Kathleen Keegan ranks third in the Patriot League in save percentage at .718 and has combined with freshman Millie Baker to post a 1.93 goals-against average.
