Terriers Travel to Army for PL Midweek Matchup

BOSTON – Currently tied-for-first in the Patriot League standings, the Boston University men's soccer team will embark on a two-game road trip, starting at Army on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. start time.

The Terriers (5-1-0 PL are just two points ahead of Lehigh (4-1-1), while the Black Knights (2-3-1 PL) are in a three-way tie for fifth at seven points.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is 4-1-1 over the last six games with identical 2-0 wins at Lafayette and Lehigh and 1-1 draw at Northeastern ... Overall, the Terriers are 3-5-1 on the road with the other win coming against American (2-0).
  • Over the last six contests, both sophomore Matt McDonnell (4g,1a) and freshman Toti Knutsson (3g,3a) have tallied seven points apiece with sophomore Mana Chavali (2g,1a) posting five.
  • Knutsson and junior T.J. Butzke are tied for the team lead with three assists.
  • The Terriers own six shutouts, one shy of last year's total, with sophomore Michael Bernardi recording five blank sheets in nine starts ... He owns a 1.15 goals against average and 0.737 save percentage.
  • In conference play, BU has only allowed two goals, both to preseason favorite Loyola Maryland, with a 60-51 advantage in shot attempts ... Bernardi has played every minute at net, while freshman midfielder Peter Kargbo has been off the field for just four minutes against PL opponents.
SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT
  • The Black Knights are 5-1-0 at home with but will be playing their first home game in the month of October since the 0-0 draw against Navy was played in Philadelphia ... They own victories against San Diego State (1-0), Fairfield (3-0), Marist (2-1), Sacred Heart (2-1) and Colgate (2-0) with the loss coming against Fairleigh Dickinson (2-1).
  • Army is on a three-game winless streak with the tie against Navy and losses to both Loyola Maryland (2-1) and Bucknell (1-0).
  • Rex Epps (6g,4a) ranks third in the PL in points per game (1.14) with Keenan O'Shea (5g,4a) close behind at 1.00 ... They both have two game-winning goals alongside Tyler Mitchiner (2g,2a).
  • Justin Stoll has played every second at net, posting seven shutouts with a 0.769 save percentage and PL-high 0.620 goals against average.
  • Army has nearly doubled opponents in shot attempts, 207-110.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Terriers own a 6-2-1 advantage in a series that dates back to 1978 ... They are 3-1-1 since joining the Patriot League.
  • The Black Knights are 1-0-1 at home in PL matchups against BU with a 3-2 2OT win in 2013 and 1-1 draw in 2015.
