BOSTON – Having already clinched a spot for the upcoming Patriot League tournament, the Boston University men's soccer team will set its sights on grabbing a quarterfinal bye when it visits Bucknell on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Terriers are currently tied for first with Loyola Maryland at 18 points, while Lehigh (13 pts.) and Bucknell (12 pts.) sit in third and fourth, respectively, with two games remaining.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- With Wednesday's 3-1 win at Army, BU moved to .500 for the first time this season after opening the year with five losses ... The Terriers are now 4-5-1 on the road compared to a 3-2-1 home mark.
- The Terriers have six PL wins and at least 18 points for the third time in four years after going 6-0-3 (21 pts.) in 2014 and 6-1-2 (20 pts.) in 2015.
- BU has won all four road PL matchups by two goals apiece, previously earning 2-0 wins at Lehigh, American and Lafayette.
- With their performances against the Black Knights, sophomore Satchel Cortet (2g,2a) and freshman Austin D'Anna (3g) pushed the total of multi-goal scorers to five players this season.
- Freshman Toti Knutsson (3g,5a) leads the team with 11 points ... Both he and junior T.J. Butzke (5a) are the first BU duo since 2014 to own at least five assists apiece.
- With an assist on Cortet's goal, freshman Elias Lampis became the 11th Terrier to record at least one point this season.
- Sophomore MIchael Bernardi has started 10 games this season at net, including all seven PL games, and owns a 1.13 goals against average with a 0.732 save percentage.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
- The Bison are riding a two-game win streak with victories over Army (1-0) and Lehigh (2-1) following a four-game winless streak that featured identical 2-1 losses to Binghamton, Colgate and Holy Cross with a 0-0 draw against Howard.
- Bucknell is 5-2-0 at home compared to 1-5-3 mark on the road with non-conference wins over St. Francis Pa. (1-0) and Duquesne (2-0).
- Matt Thorsheim leads the Bison with 14 points off five goals and four assists, while Nick King has 10 points off four goals and two assists ... Both of Ben Dereith's goals this season proved to be game winners.
- Ryan Ott has made 14 starts, posting five shutouts with a 0.97 goals against average and 0.806 save percentage.
- Bucknell and opponents are tied in corner kicks, 81-81.
SERIES HISTORY
- Bucknell leads the all-time series, 2-0-4, after eliminating the Terriers in penalty kick during last season's Patriot League quarterfinals at Nickerson Field.
- The Bison struck first in the 29th minute before BU netted the equalizer in the 79th minute ... Bucknell won the shootout, 4-1, to advance despite BU posting a 29-19 advantage in shot attempts.
- All six meetings between the two teams have gone to overtime.
- Last year at Bucknell during the regular season, the teams battled to a 1-1 draw with both teams scoring in the second half and the Bison posting a 24-18 advantage in shots.
