Highlights (w/reaction from Leslie, Durocher)
DO IT FOR DARON
- The teams came together after the game to form a heart on the ice for Do It For Daron, an organization dedicated to raising awareness, inspiring conversations and transforming youth mental health.
TURNING POINT
- With the Terriers clinging to a 3-2 lead, senior goaltender Victoria Hanson made 13 of her 35 saves in the third period, including three stops over two UNH power plays, to help preserve the one-goal advantage.
GOAL-BY-GOAL
- Junior Victoria Bach gave BU a 1-0 lead just 1:30 into the proceedings. Graduate student Mary Parker played the puck off the half-wall for Bach, who did the rest. She turned back in her own zone, created speed up the right wing and eventually roofed a shot over Hilary Cashin (24 saves).
- UNH evened the score with a power-play tally late in the period to send the teams into the first intermission deadlocked at 1-1.
- BU once again got off to a fast start in the second period when Leslie took a feed from classmate Nina Rodgers and scored her 11th goal of the season just 1:25 into the stanza.
- Senior co-captain Alexis Crossley extended the lead to 3-1 with what proved to be the game-winning goal. Her blast from the point got through everybody on a Terrier power play for her second strike of the season.
- The Wildcats answered with a power-play goal of their own to cut the deficit to 3-2 entering the third period.
- Bach brought the Terrier lead back to two goals with just 2:46 remaining in regulation when she burst up the left wing and beat Cashin for her 20th goal of the campaign.
- Just 33 seconds after Bach's marker, senior Maddie Elia added an empty-netter to seal the victory.
GAME NOTES
- Thanks to its sweep of UNH, BU moved into third place alone with 24 points, one point ahead of third-place Vermont and three points clear of fifth-place Providence, though both teams have a game in hand on the Terriers.
- Bach became just the second Terrier in program history to score 20 goals in three consecutive seasons. Sarah Lefort also accomplished that feat (2012-15).
- Elia extended her point streak to five games (3g, 5a) with her two-point (1g, 1a) afternoon. She has yet to be held pointless since returning to the lineup on Jan. 28 after a five-game absence.
- Junior Nina Rodgers moved her point streak to four games (2g, 3a) with an assist on Leslie's goal.
- Seven different Terriers tallied an assist on Saturday, including graduate student Mary Parker, freshman Deziray De Sousa, junior Savannah Newton and freshman Abby Cook.
UP NEXT
- BU will host crosstown rival Northeastern on Friday, Feb. 17, at Walter Brown Arena.
- Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
