HOW IT HAPPENED

Varsity Eight
In the last contest of the day, the BU 1V8 got out to a fast start ahead of Syracuse and Columbia who battled for second. The BU 1V, coxed by Sean Dooling and stroked by Jacob Barker, began to build a four-seat lead over Syracuse and held it at the 500m mark with Columbia in third. The race remained unchanged for the next 500 meters as the Terriers maintained a four-seat lead at the 1500m mark ahead of second-place Syracuse and third-place Columbia. Syracuse made a hard charge down the stretch and cut into BU's lead, but BU responded and held off Syracuse at the line, winning a very close and exciting race. The Terriers finished with a time of 6:12.18, just ahead of second-place Syracuse (6:12.70) and well ahead of third-place Columbia (6:20.940). With the victory, BU regained the Conlan Cup from Syracuse and retained the Lusins Trophy from Columbia.

Second Varsity Eight
Coxed by Justin Goucher and stroked by Ole Bang-Andreasen, the BU 2V got off to a fast start and never relinquished its lead. BU pulled ahead of second-place Syracuse by five seats and Columbia by open water at the 1000 meter mark. Syracuse challenged over the third 500 meters but BU answered and cruised to victory by a length (6:18.61) with Syracuse second (6:21.16) and Columbia third (6:39.09).

Third Varsity Eight
Coxed by Jeanne Garner and stroked by Andrew Dellechiaie, the third varsity eight competed in a tough back and forth race that saw all three boats taking the lead at one point. Columbia got out first early then BU held the advantage at the 1000 meter mark with Syracuse and Columbia even for second. But Syracuse built a five-seat lead over the final 500 meters and fought off a late BU charge to win the race with a time of 6:22.29. BU was second (6:29.14) and Columbia was again third (6:20.94).

Varsity Four
In the first race of the morning, BU's varsity four, coxed by Nick Meehan and stroked by Tommaso Ferme fell to Syracuse in the two-boat race. Syracuse was first to the line with a time of 7:27.57, ahead of BU's time of 7:35.25.
