HOW IT HAPPENED

Varsity Eight
In the first race of the day, the varsity eight battle for the Jablonic Cup, BU and Wisconsin got off to an even start. The BU V8, coxed by Sean Dooling and stroked by Ole Bang-Andreasen, opened up a 3 seat lead over the first 500 meters and held it through 1000 meters. Wisconsin began to make its move over the final 500 meters and pulled even with the Terriers with 100 meters to go. The Terriers fought off the late charge and finished just ahead of the Badgers at the line in an extremely close race.

With the win, BU has now won the Jablonic Cup race six straight times, dating back 20 2013.

Second Varsity Eight
The second varsity eight boat, coxed by Justin Goucher and stroked by Jacob Barker, fell behind early and trailed Wisconsin by a half a length at the 1000 meter mark. But BU fought back and pulled even over the second half of the race. The 2V8 caught Wisconsin then built a four seat lead that it did not relinquish down the stretch, winning by over 1 second.

Third Varsity Eight
The third varsity eight boat, coxed by Chloe Jacobs and stroked by Andrew Dellechiaie, got out to a big lead early and never looked back. The BU 3V led by open water at the 1000 meter mark and continued to extend the lead over the second half of the race and cruised to an open water win.

With the 3V win, BU swept Wisconsin on the day, repeating the sweep the Terriers had over Wisconsin last year on the Charles River.

Varsity 4+
Also on Saturday, the BU  4+ stayed in Boston and faced Northeastern on the Charles River. NU finished first with a time of 7:06.54, ahead of BU's time of 7:15.02.

BU will next compete in Worcester, Mass. at the Eastern Sprints on May 13. The Terriers will then prepare for the IRA National Championship Regatta June 1-3 in Mercer County, N.J.
