BOSTON - Two Terriers will be representing the United States in international competition this month as
Taylor Blood '17 has been added to the U.S. Women's National Development Squad and will join
Ally Hammel '19 for a four-game test series against Chile's Women's and U-19 Women's National Team.
Originally an alternate, a spot opened up for Blood and she and Hammel headed south with the team earlier this week to begin preparations for the first match on Saturday (May 19) at 3 p.m. Other matches will take place on May 20, 22 & 23. Blood and Hammel will see a familiar BUFHA face as Valentina Cerda Eimbcke '15 is a goalkeeper for Chile's national team.
Blood, who just wrapped up her first season as an assistant coach at Merrimack College, helped the Terriers claim Patriot League titles in 2014 and 2015 and played in 80 games during her collegiate career, totaling 47 points on 16 goals and 15 assists. A two-time NFHCA All-Region honoree, Blood was named to the Patriot League All-Conference First Team as a senior after collecting second-team honors during her junior season.
Hammel (Duxbury, Mass.) and Blood (Hampton Falls, N.H.) are the only two New England natives on the roster for the Chile trip.
The U.S. Women's National Development Squad accounts for the transitional phase between the U-21 USWNT and the senior USWNT.
