LANCASTER, Pa. -
Tracey Paul, who has been on Boston University's field hockey coaching staff for 19 years, has been named an assistant coach for the 2019 U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team, it was announced by USA Field Hockey on Wednesday.
The U-21 USWNT will travel to Monchengladbach, Germany, in April to take on Germany's U-21 Team and Great Britain's U-21 Team. The team will take part in three additional training camps over the next several weeks to prepare for its international trip. Paul will serve in her assistant role through the 2020 Junior Pan American Championship.Â
Paul coached at the 2017 and 2018 Young Women's National Championships while also serving as head coach for the New England Junior High Performance squad. She was an assistant coach for the 2015-16 U.S. National Under-19 Team and an assistant for the New England Under-16 Team that competed at the 2016 National Futures Championship.
During her time at BU, Paul has helped lead the Terriers to 238 wins, eight NCAA appearances, nine conference titles, 11 regular-season conference crowns and a conference winning percentage of nearly .800. Â
Paul's players at BU have combined to earn 20 NFHCA All-America honors and 68 All-Region accolades. During her 19 years, Terriers have claimed 15 conference player of the year awards and seven have been named conference rookie of the year.
Having overseen the identification and recruitment of prospective student-athletes from across the globe, Paul has helped secure commitments from international recruits who have gone on to secure five All-America honors and 10 conference player/goalkeeper of the year awards as Terriers.
Paul has been a U.S. Field Hockey Association (USFHA) Elite High Performance/Olympic Development Coach in addition to serving as a coach/selector for the U. S. Men's National program. In 2005, Paul completed the International Hockey Federation (FIH) High Performance Coaching Course in Virginia Beach.
