BOSTON - Following earning a 0-0 double overtime draw in its season opener at Denver, the Boston University women's soccer team will head down the road to Boulder to clash against Colorado on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 2 p.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU went into overtime in a season opener for the first time since 2011 Thursday night against the Pioneers.
- The Terriers held the edge in shots (8-7) and shots on goal (4-3), but neither team could the back of the net after 110 minutes of play.
- Morgan Messner recorded three saves for the shutout, while Lily Perryman and Messner were the lone Terriers to play every minute of the match.
- BU's depth was on display as 21 of 28 players available saw the field, while seven of its 10 newcomers earned playing time.
- Kelly Harris and Caitlin DiSarcina led the Terriers with two shots apiece.
- The Buffs earned a 2-0 win over Drake in their season opener on Thursday.
- Taylor Kornieck and Stephanie Zuniga each fed one another's goals against the Bulldogs.
- Goalkeeper Jalen Thompkins set the program all-time wins record with her 38th victory in net and earned her 18th career shutout
- Thursday was also a milestone night for head coach Danny Sanchez, who picked up his 500th career win.
- Colorado began last season with a 16-game unbeaten streak, though skidded down the stretch to finish at 13-4-3 and just missed a NCAA Tournament at-large bid.
- Sunday will mark the first matchup between the two squads.
- The Terriers are 2-7-2 all-time against Pac-12 opponents, with its two wins coming against Washington, and will look for its first win against a Pac-12 foe since 2011.
- BU posted two double overtime draws against Arizona State and Arizona in 2017 at the Sun Devil Desert Classic.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
- BU is 46-33-11 all-time when playing an opponent for the first time and 40-18-4 in the rematch.
- BU will close out its three-game road trip with a visit to Boston College on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
