BOSTON - The No. 23 Boston University field hockey team will welcome New Hampshire to New Balance Field for its home opener on Friday (Sept. 6). Game time is set for 5 p.m.

The Terriers are 1-1 on the year after splitting two games on a trip to Ohio last weekend. BU topped Ohio, 4-1, before being edged by No. 14 Ohio State, 3-2.

UNH is in search of its first win after dropping a pair of contests on the road. After a 4-2 loss at American, the Wildcats were blanked by No. 2 Maryland, 5-0.

In the 2019 America East Preseason Coaches Poll, UNH was tied for fourth in the East Division. Last season, the Wildcats finished the year with a 6-12 record and a 3-5 mark in conference play.

Both of the Wildcats' goals last weekend were scored by sophomore Finn Caron. Caron led the squad in points (17) and goals (8) last year as a rookie while junior Bloem van den Brekel added 16 points (7g, 2a) last fall. Bailey Fanikos is back for her senior season after chipping in five goals in 2018.

UNH lost goalkeeper Kelsey Rudert to graduation and sophomore Rachel Simkevich earned both starts last weekend.

The Terriers got four goals last weekend from junior Ailsa Connolly, who was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week. She recorded her second collegiate hat trick in Saturday's win at Ohio before adding another tally against the Buckeyes.

Junior Maggie New picked up assists on two of Connolly's goals while classmate Liz Ryan and freshman Ellie McIntyre recorded their first goals as Terriers.

Freshman goalkeeper Caroline Kelly registered 14 saves in the season-opening weekend, highlighted by a 12-save performance against Ohio State.

The Terriers and Wildcats have met 44 times with BU holding a 23-18-3 advantage in the series.
