BOSTON - The No. 23 Boston University field hockey team will aim for a two-win home weekend on Sunday (Sept. 8) when crosstown rival Northeastern visits for a 1 p.m. contest.
Sunday's game kicks off BU Athletics' second annual Pride Week, celebrating the LGBTQA+ community on campus. BU Pride decals will be available to fans while supplies last.
The Terriers (2-1) earned a 2-1 victory in their home opener on Friday against New Hampshire while the Huskies upped their record to 3-0 with a 8-1 home triumph against Dartmouth.
BU was boosted by trio of impressive home debuts on Friday as freshman
Jodie Conolly opened the scoring and assisted on junior transfer
Liz Ryan's important insurance tally. Freshman goalkeeper
Caroline Kelly registered her second consecutive double-digit save performance with 11 stops against the Wildcats.
In addition to their win over Dartmouth, the Huskies also posted wins over Holy Cross (3-0) and Monmouth (3-2).
Northeastern's strong start is in large part to the scoring touch of freshman Lauren Rowe, as the England native has 13 points on four goals and five assists through three games. Classmate Alli Meehan and junior Camille O'Conor each have posted three goals and an assist. O'Conor was the team's leading returning scorer after tallying 19 points (7g, 5a) as a sophomore.
Junior Julia Gluyas is in her third year as the Huskies' starting goalkeeper and has impressive numbers thus far this season with a 0.96 goals-against average and a .833 save percentage.
For the Terriers, junior
Ailsa Connolly has team highs in points (5) and goals (4) while Ryan (2g) and Conolly (1g, 1a) have four and three points, respectively.
Kelly, who made 12 saves in a loss to No. 14 Ohio State on Monday, has a 1.70 goals-against average and a .833 save percentage through her three starts.
The Huskies hold a 27-24 advantage in 51 all-time meetings but BU has come out on top in each of the past four, including a 4-1 triumph in last year's season opener at UNH's Wildcat Classic.
