The No. 10 Boston University women's ice hockey team will continue its 2020-21 season on Friday, Dec. 11, when the Terriers travel to UConn.
BU split its opening weekend series at New Hampshire on Dec. 4 and 5, earning a 2-1 win on Friday before suffering a 4-3 setback the next night. Senior co-captain Jesse Compher and sophomore Julia Nearis lit the lamp in each game while freshman Clare O'Leary tallied her first collegiate goal as part of a two-point performance on Saturday. Junior Courtney Correia led the Terriers with three assists in two games, with senior Kristina Schuler contributing two assists on Saturday. Two Terriers - sophomore Brooke Ersoy and freshman Andi Calderone - notched their first collegiate points on Friday when they assisted on Nearis' game-winning goal.
Senior goaltender Corinne Schroeder was sharp in Friday's win, making eight of her 18 saves in the final 20 minutes to protect the Terriers' one-goal advantage. The last time she started at Freitas Ice Forum, she stopped all 38 shots she faced in a 1-0 triumph on Oct. 18, 2019.
UConn has yet to win a game in four tries this season, most recently dropping both contests in a home-and-home series with Boston College this past weekend. Senior Savannah Bouzide leads the league and is tied for second in the country with five goals. Three Huskies - junior Viki Harkness, sophomore Claire Peterson and freshman Jada Habisch - have recorded a pair of assists. Junior Samantha Carpentier-Yelle and freshman Tia Chan have split goaltending duties over the first four tilts. Chan boasts a 1.99 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage while Carpentier-Yelle owns a 5.38 GAA and an .841 save percentage.
