Giving Day Homepage
BOSTON – For the fourth consecutive year, Giving Day 2019 proved to be a record-breaking event for the Department of Athletics. Boston University is proud to announce that Giving Day is back as the 24-hour online fundraising initiative returns for its seventh year on
Thursday, April 2, 2020.
In 2019, Terrier Nation came together to break the department's previous Giving Day mark, as alumni, parents and friends contributed $1,357,366 in support of varsity programs. The final tally represented a large portion of the $3.25 million raised in total across campus. In fact, Varsity Athletics and Club Sports represented 56 percent of all gifts made to the University. For the second consecutive year, all Terrier student-athletes and staff contributed as well.
Giving Day 2020 – The Challenges
The fundraising competition, spearheaded by Athletics' Giving Day 2020 Chair Tim Burr MET'97 and Vice Chair Bill Kamer LAW'78, has initiated a set of challenges amongst all varsity programs.
Most Dollars Raised: Each team has been paired with another varsity program. The team that raises the most money within its assigned group on Giving Day 2020 will receive a bonus.
Most Unique Donors: The top four (4) men's and women's teams will each receive a bonus based on the most unique donors on Giving Day 2020. Find last year's results
HERE.
Athletics Parents Participation: Each program that reaches 100% participation by current team parents will receive a portion of the $25,000 bonus prize. In 2019, 10 teams achieved this feat.
Young Alumni-Athlete Participation: Each team that receives a total number of gifts from their program's young alumni (classes of 20010-19), equal to or greater than the size of their current team roster will receive a portion of the $25,000 bonus available as part of this Challenge.
Example:
Women's Basketball has 12 student-athletes on their current roster. If the team receives gifts from 12 Women's Basketball young alumnae, the team will receive a bonus.
Giving Day has become an incredibly impactful day for Terrier student-athletes thanks to the support of so many alumni, parents and friends. With your help, we look forward to making this initiative an even bigger success in 2020.
