BOSTON – After allowing a late first-half goal, the Boston University men's soccer team rallied with an offensive explosion in the second to defeat Northeastern, 3-1, on Tuesday night at Nickerson Field.
Following sophomore
Eitan Rosen's two-goal performance on Saturday, junior
Ronaldo Marshall earned his first career brace to help the Terriers (3-8-2) extend their unbeaten streak to three games and hand the Huskies (9-4-2) their largest defeat of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Miles Dycaico helped BU start applying pressure on Northeastern in the 17th minute with a strong run into the box before setting up freshman Kevin Torres with a 20-yard blast.
- Colby Hergarty made the save and stopped another shot from Dycaico at 18:20.
- After BU attempted five of the first six shot attempts, Northeastern began applying pressure of its own in the 35th minute, as Federico Tellez sent two shots wide.
- Tellez had another blocked that led to a pair of corner kicks and the eventual goal that saw Jet Ulven head Tellez's corner to set up Sebastian Restrepo's quick header grab the 1-0 lead at 39:22.
- The Terriers only needed five minutes in the second half to net the equalizer, as they drew a foul in the box with a dangerous cross that led to Marshall driving a low grounder past a diving Hergarty.
- BU continued to drive the ball toward Northeastern's net and earned four combined corners in the 57th and 58th minutes.
- Senior Gianluca Arlotti eventually helped BU grab the lead for good by sending a long cross to sophomore Andrew Rent, who spun around a defender and fired at the far post to force another save, which led to Marshall pouncing on the loose rebound for the 2-1 advantage.
- The Huskies tried to pick up the pace seeking the equalizer, but BU continued to dominate possession and eventually drew another foul in the box in the 84th minute.
- Hergarty made a diving save on Innes' initial attempt, but freshman Brian Hernandez was able to pounce on the ball near the goal line first and send it back to a charging Innes for the quick strike and 3-1 lead.

- Marshall has tallied seven of his team-leading 10 points during the three-game unbeaten streak.
- Innes became the sixth Terrier to find the back of the net this season while also joining Rent in increasing the total of players to earn an assist and goal this year at five total.
- Marshall, Innes and Hernandez are all tied for the game lead at two assists.
- Junior Francesco Montali made four saves against Hergarty's nine, as the Terriers posted a 20-11 advantage in shots.
- BU attempted all eight of its corners in the second half and limited the Huskies to five total.
- The Terriers improved to 22-9-2 all-time in the series after snapping a three-game winless streak that featured two double-OT contests.
