Montali Claims Second Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week Award

October 25, 2021

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After helping the Boston University men's soccer team extend its unbeaten streak to four games with a victory and shutout, junior goalkeeper Francesco Montali has earned his second Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week award, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

The Davie, Florida, native combined for nine saves in a 3-1 win over Northeastern and 0-0 draw at Bucknell. He finished with a .900 save percentage and 0.45 goals against average after playing all 200 minutes at net.

In the first contest after Northeastern converted on a corner kick with a pair of headers, Montali made four saves in the second half, as BU rallied for the 3-1 win. The Terriers were just the fourth opponent in 15 games to prevent the Huskies from scoring multiple goals.

This past Saturday, Montali claimed five saves for his third shutout of the year. All three clean sheets have occurred in conference play this year with the first one against Navy earning Montali his first Goalkeeper of the Week award after he recorded a season-high six saves.

With two regular season games remaining, BU will next visit Lehigh on Saturday (Oct. 30) at 6 p.m.
