The Boston University women's ice hockey team will head to Providence on Sunday to face the Friars at Schneider Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m., and the game will be televised live on NESN.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU remained unbeaten in Hockey East play after a 1-1 tie with Vermont on Friday night at Walter Brown Arena.
- Senior Emma Wuthrich tied the game 4:00 into the third period on a goal that was assisted by sophomore Julia Shaunessy and junior Haylee Blinkhorn.
- In the shootout, senior Courtney Correia scored the lone goal and classmate Kate Stuart stopped all three attempts she faced to give BU the extra point in the Hockey East standings.
- Stuart stopped 23 shots during regulation and overtime.
- Friday was Wuthrich's second straight game with a goal; she also opened the scoring at Union on Oct. 23 in a 4-1 Terrier win.
HISTORY WITH PROVIDENCE
- BU is 30-16-3 all-time against Providence, though the Terriers are only 9-13-2 against the Friars at Schneider Arena.
- BU fell to Providence, 4-3, in a Hockey East quarterfinal matchup last season at Schneider Arena.
- The Terriers have allowed just 1.33 goals per game to Providence in the last five regular-season games.
- The two teams did not meet during the 2020-21 regular season.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS
- Sunday will be the first game of the weekend for Providence.
- The Friars made the same road trip as the Terriers did last weekend, traveling to RPI and Union.
- Like BU, Providence defeated Union, earning a 2-1 win on Oct. 22, and lost to RPI, suffering a 2-0 setback on Oct. 23.
- The Friars have yet to allow more than two goals this season, though they have only scored three goals on two separate occasions.
- Sophomore Lindsay Bochna (2g, 3a), senior Hayley Lunny (3g, 2a) and sophomore Brooke Becker (2g, 3a) are all tied for the team lead in points with five.
- Sophomore Claire Tyo is tied with Becker and Bochna for the lead in assists with three.
- Senior Sandra Abstreiter has started five of the six games for Providence.
- She owns a .958 save percentage and a 1.16 goals-against average.
