NEW ENGLAND – Fresh off a senior campaign that included a major award and a regular season championship, defender
Jenna Oldham was selected for the 2021 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The NEWISA Senior Bowl brings together players from NCAA Division I, II and III colleges in New England for one final game following the conclusion of their last collegiate season. For the 2021 season, the NEWISA Senior Bowl Selections are honored with a news release announcing the teams and awards will be sent to selected players. However, NEWISA is unable to host a game this fall due to COVID restrictions and concerns.
Oldham received the most votes for a defender representing the team and is one of seven defenders to earn a spot. Central Connecticut State midfielder Roma McLaughlin and goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan, as well as Boston College forward Jenna Bike, were the other leading vote-getters at their respective positions, with McLaughlin garnering the most votes.
Entering 2021 as the Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year, Oldham changed positions from a forward to defense. Nonetheless, she still led BU with four goals, seven assists, and 15 points while starting all 20 games on the season. At the same time, she helped guide a defense that recorded seven shutouts on the year and allowed more than one goal in league play just once in nine games.
With those accolades, Oldham was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Patriot League First Team. The Terriers won their fourth Patriot League regular season title in program history and advanced all the way to the league championship match.
The New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association is an over 35-year-old member organization that supports the women's collegiate soccer community in New England at the NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III level. NEWISA's signature program is the Senior Bowl. The organization also recognizes All-New England Teams, highlights Coaching Staff of the Year Awards, offers Coaching Scholarships and honors New England collegiate soccer alumna for their service efforts.
