WAKEFIELD, Mass. - After allowing just one goal in a weekend sweep on the road against Vermont, freshman goaltender
Vinny Duplessis has been named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Duplessis stopped 34 of the 35 shots he faced against the Catamounts, including an 18-save shutout on Friday, to move to a perfect 3-0-0 in three starts. He added 16 saves in Saturday's 5-1 triumph and is now 3-0-0 with a 0.67 goals-against average and a .974 save percentage.
This is the second time in as many weeks that Duplessis has been honored by the league as he was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Feb. 8.
