Pettisani Overtime Goal Pushes Field Hockey Past Lafayette, 2-1

EASTON, Pa. - Senior Alexis Pettisani scored her first collegiate goal 2:15 into overtime to lift the Boston University field hockey team to a 2-1 victory at Lafayette on Sunday afternoon at Rappolt Field.

The Terriers improve to 2-0 on the year while the Leopards drop to 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless opening half, senior Liz Ryan opened the scoring in the 37th minute.
  • Junior Casey Thompson sent a ball through traffic from the right side and it went off Ryan's stick by the near post and trickled in to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.
  • The Leopards tied the game three minutes later when Tara Hamilton pounced on a loose ball in the circle and got it past BU netminder Caroline Kelly.
  • In overtime off a restart, Pettisani wove around the Lafayette defense from the right side before slipping a shot past the Leopards' goalkeeper to give the Terriers their second straight road win.
