EASTON, Pa. – Traveling for its first true road game of the season, the Boston University women's soccer team earned a 1-1 double overtime draw at Lafayette Saturday afternoon at Oaks Stadium.
The Leopards reached the scoreboard first, finding the back of the net in the 40th minute. BU staged a late-game comeback in the second half as
Ashley Raphael sent in header off an assist by
Jenna Oldham for the equalizer in the 80th minute to force overtime, where neither team could deliver the golden goal as the match ended in a draw.
How It Happened
- Raphael got off a pair of shots over the first 12 minutes before Morgan Messner made a trio of saves over the ensuing five minutes.
- BU defended a pair of Leopard corner kicks, but Lafayette got on the board in the 40th minute, sending a strike from the center of the box to take the lead.
- Lily Matthews and Alyssa Bourgeois sent shots wide of the frame to start the second half.
- Working off an Ann Marie Jaworski corner kick in the 80th minute, Raphael headed in a setup from Oldham to knot the score.
- BU's defense held Lafayette to one shot over the final 36 minutes of regulation as the match headed into overtime.
- The Leopards outshot the Terriers 7-2 over two frames of extra time, though BU held on to take away a point.
