BOSTON – Competing in the final game of the regular season, the Boston University men's soccer team will host Army West Point on Saturday afternoon.. Prior to the 4 p.m. start, the Terriers will recognize on the field graduating seniors
George Abunaw and
Zion Balogun.
BU is currently tied-for-third in the North Division with Colgate at three points, three behind Holy Cross. Sitting at 4-0, Lafayette has already clinched one of the two available Patriot League tournament berths. BU needs a win over the Black Knights along with a Colgate win at Holy Cross to enter into a three-way tie. If the Terriers had the two favorable results, they would have the advantage in advancing due to a +1 goal differential. HC is currently at +1 with Colgate at -3.
Through three games, sophomore
Ronaldo Marshall and freshman
Andrew Rent own a team-high six points with two goals and two assists apiece. Freshman
Eitan Rosen also has two assists and is tied with Marshall at seven shots. At net, freshman
Andrew Wike has played the last 225 minutes, posting a 0.722 save percentage and 2.00 goals against average. They helped BU open the season with a 3-0 win over Colgate before dropping back-to-back one-goal decisions to Lafayette and Holy Cross.
The Black Knights have lost all three conference games by one goal, including 2-1 defeats to Holy Cross and Lafayette. Both Oscar Pereira and Eric Whiteman notched a goal with Pereira the lone player to record more than four shots in league play at 15 total. Jacob Suppiah has played every game at net, posting a 0.583 save percentage and 1.66 goals against average.
The Terriers are 8-3-2 all-time in a series that dates back to 1978. Army won the last meeting in West Point in 2019 with a 2-1 overtime victory after eliminating the Terriers via a penalty shootout in the 2018 Patriot League opening round. BU is overall 5-0-1 all-time at Nickerson Field against the Black Knights.
