BOSTON – The Boston University men's rowing team continued its busy weekend on Sunday, facing off with archrival Northeastern on the Charles River.
The Terriers' varsity eight and second varsity eight both fell to Northeastern while the third varsity eight race was dead even with both boats crossing the finish line with official times of 6:39.8.
Earlier in the weekend, the Terriers also competed in a rare Saturday evening race, taking on Syracuse at 7pm. The BU varsity four boat was victorious while the BU 1V and 2V both fell to the Orangemen.
This weekend's racing was the final test for the Terriers before the team competes at the IRA National Championship Regatta in West Windsor, N.J. on May 28 - 29.

The Boston University men's rowing team won two of three races on the Saturday, dropping only a photo finish to Wisconsin in the varsity eight race on the Charles River.
The 2V8 and the 3V8 both won close contests against the Badgers while the V8 lost in .03 seconds after officials reviewed the photo finish.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Varsity Eight
In the first contest of the morning under blustery conditions, BU and Wisconsin battled right from the start in a fiercely contested race. The boats traded short leads but neither team could open a substantial advantage as the the boats approached the final 100 meters in the dead heat. The BU 1V, coxed by
William Mulhall and stroked by
Jacob Raillon, crossed the finish line seemingly event the Badgers as everyone looked to the officials for their final decision. After a review, the official result was Wisconsin finishing first with a time of 6:17.353 while BU finished in 6:17.397, less than .04 seconds separating the boats.
Second Varsity Eight
The 2V8 race was another tight one as BU got out to an early lead only to be caught by the Badgers. The 2V8, coxed by
Peter Adams and stroked by
Gabriel Stekl, fought back and pulled ahead of Wisconsin once again over the second half of the race and took the lead with 500 meters to go. BU held off Wisconsin down the stretch, winning with a time of 6:38.58 just three seats ahead of Wisconsin (6:39.35).
Third Varsity Eight
The 3V8 was even over the fist 1000 meters but the BU 3V, coxed by
Matt Murphy and stroked by
Nathaniel Sass, pulled away over the final 500 meters to win with a time of 6:34.82 while Wisconsin finished in 6: 38.51.

BU will race again on Saturday evening against Syracuse beginning at 7pm on the Charles River and then return to race Northeastern at 7:30am on Sunday to conclude a very busy weekend.
