BOSTON - The Boston University field hockey team has released its schedule for the upcoming 2021 season, as announced by head coach
Sally Starr on Monday.
The team will report for preseason next week and start preparing for its season opener against Monmouth on Friday, Aug. 27, at New Balance Field. That will be the first of 10 home contests for the Terriers, who went 4-0 during a condensed regular season last year before finishing as Patriot League runner-up.
BU will face a quarter of the teams who qualified for the 12-team NCAA tournament field this past spring, highlighted by a home game against national semifinalist Iowa on Sept. 5.
"We are thrilled to welcome our team back to campus for BUFHA preseason next week," said Starr. "We have a great group of returners as well as some very talented newcomers and we're eager to return to normal and take on another challenging schedule this fall."
In Patriot League play, BU will host American (Oct. 23), Lafayette (Oct. 9) and defending champion Bucknell (Sept. 25). The league opener will take place on Sept. 17 at Lehigh and the Terriers will also visit Colgate (Oct. 16) and Holy Cross (Oct. 29).
The Patriot League tournament will take place on Nov. 5 & 7 at the top seed. BU has hosted five of the past six PL tournaments.
