Terriers Set for Thursday Tilt at Providence

The Boston University women's soccer team will close out a two-game road stretch on Thursday when the Terriers travel to Providence to face the Friars. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU visited the Ocean State on Sunday and defeated Rhode Island, 1-0, on the strength of freshman Hugrún Helgadóttir's 11th-minute strike.
  • Senior Jenna Oldham recorded her team-best fifth assist on Helgadóttir's first collegiate goal.
  • Junior Gretchen Bennett and freshman Celia Braun combined to keep their second clean sheet of the season, both of which have come on the road and resulted in the Terriers' two victories.
  • Senior Margaret Berry leads the Terriers with six points thanks to her three goals.

SERIES HISTORY

  • This will be the first time BU and Providence have met since Sept. 1, 2016, when the Friars earned a 2-0 home win.
  • BU had won the previous six contests between the two sides, including three in a row from 2013-16.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS

  • Providence has won two straight to improve to 3-1-1, including a 3-1 win at Monmouth this past Sunday.
  • The Friars have outscored their opponents, 11-1, in their three wins.
  • Their one tie came against Rhode Island on Aug. 19.
  • Meg Hughes leads Providence in goals (5), assists (2) and points (12), having scored twice in the 3-1 win over Monmouth.
  • Hughes has scored in three straight games and in four of the Friars' five contests this season.
  • Amber Birchwell and Kyla Gallagher have tallied two goals apiece.
  • Goalkeeper Emma Bodmer has started all five games and has played all but 25:47 between the sticks this season.
