The Boston University field hockey team will wrap up its non-conference schedule on Sunday (Oct. 23) when it takes on crosstown rival and 21st-ranked Boston College.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is coming off one of its best performances of the season as it posted a 5-2 win over No. 23 Maine on Tuesday.
- Sophomore Payton Anderson recorded her first collegiate hat trick and junior Tess Csejka added two goals to up her team-leading total to nine on the season.
- Junior Thalia Steenssens earned four assists in the win, one shy of the program record of five set by Michele Barnard during the 1995 season.
- Steenssens and graduate student Casey Thompson share the team lead in assists with seven each.
- Senior Caroline Kelly tied her season high in saves with 12 to raise her save percentage to .780, which ranks 12th in the nation.
- BU's average shot margin this year is 13.3-11.7 and has earned 91 corners while allowing 86.
SCOUTING BC
- The Eagles have dropped five of their past six contests, including a 4-2 home game against No. 13 Wake Forest on Friday.
- BC's top wins this season have come against Virginia and Duke.
- Junior Peyton Hale leads the team in both points (17) and goals (7) while senior Margo Carlin had added nine points on three goals and three assists.
- Sophomore Victoria Arra (4g) and graduate student Sarah Johnson (2g, 4a) have contributed eight points apiece.
- Freshman Carine van Weichen has been the Eagles' primary goalkeeper and has a .627 save percentage and a 2.41 goals-against average.
SERIES HISTORY
- In what has been a competitive rivalry for decades, the Terriers trail BC, 22-18-3, in the all-time series.
- The Eagles have won the past four meetings, however, including a 3-2 win last season that was highlighted by a career-best 15-save performance from Caroline Kelly.
UP NEXT
- The Terriers will close out their season on Sunday, Oct. 30, when they visit Bucknell.Â
