NEWTON, Mass. - The Boston University field hockey team fell short against No. 21 Boston College on Sunday afternoon as the Eagles secured a 3-1 home win at Newton Campus Field.

Payton Anderson scored the Terriers' lone goal as she tied up the game 1-1 late in the second half off a corner. Senior
Caroline Kelly recorded 13 saves for the Terriers.
BU, which was playing in its non-conference finale, now stands at an even 8-8 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got off to a strong start and scored off the first corner of the game in the third minute.
- Lois Lekawael got a stick on Peyton Hale's offering from the top of the circle and elevated the ball to the high netting to give the home team a 1-0 lead at the 2:48 mark.
- Kelly made three saves in each of the first two quarters.Â
- The Terriers earned their first corner with just under two minutes left in the open half and used it to notch an equalizer.
- Anderson notched her fourth goal of the week as her shot from the top of the circle glazed off a BC defender and in at 28:25.Â
- Graduate student Casey Thompson and junior Thalia Steenssens picked up assists on the play.
- The third quarter belonged to BC as they were able to generate several chances and use them to regain the lead and score twice less than three minutes apart.
- Kara Heck scored what would be the game-winner in the 41st minute when she received a throw off a restart and attacked from the left side before scoring with a high shot.
- Soon after, BC's Margo Carlin scored off her own rebound to create the first multi-goal lead of the game at 3-1.
GAME NOTES
- Steenssens and Thompson pushed their team-leading assist total to eight apiece.
- Emily Gillespie made one save in goal for the Eagles during the first before Carine Van Wiechen played the latter half and did not face a shot on goal.
- Kelly raised her season save percentage to. 785. Â

- The Terriers will close out their season on Sunday, Oct. 30, when they visit Bucknell.Â
