Women’s Soccer Treks To American To Resume PL Play

BOSTON – Fresh off its win over one of previously seven unbeaten teams in the nation, the Boston University women's soccer program returns to Patriot League action with a visit to American on Saturday (Oct. 8). Opening kick is slated for 2 p.m.
 
BU looks to extend its season-long winning streak to four games, and has won five of its last seven contests. To date, the Terriers are 4-3 on the road this season.
 
American seeks its first victory since Aug. 25. Since then, the Eagles are 0-2-5.
 
TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU recently dispatched No. 25 Harvard on the road, 1-0.
  • Junior Abigail McNulty scored the game's lone tally in the 16th minute to defeat the Crimson, who entered the week ranked ninth in the RPI.
  • Sophomore Celia Braun made nine saves, including six in the second half, for her second individual shutout of the season.
  • McNulty, who also found the back of the net against #RV Michigan back on Aug. 28, moved into a tie for the lead with redshirt senior Amy Thompson and sophomore Morgan Fagan with nine points in 2022.
  • Fagan recorded an assist on McNulty's strike, giving her seven points in her last seven matches.
  • BU has not allowed a goal during its current three-game winning streak. All three matches have been decided by one goal.
  • All seven of the Terriers' triumphs have been one-goal decisions.
  • Braun has not allowed a goal in her last 308:24 minutes she's played, spanning across her last five games.
  • Including senior Gretchen Bennett's effort against UMass back on Sept. 8, Terrier goalkeepers have posted three clean sheets in the last four matches when one plays the full 90 minutes.
  • In its last 10 regular season Patriot League matches, dating back to 2021, BU is 7-1-2.
  • As a team, the Terriers are 24th in Division I with 6.92 corner kicks per game.

  • Olivia Simmons leads the team with two assists and four points. Seven different Eagles have found the back of the net in 2022.
  • Julia Kato has played every minute in goal this season, recording a 1.11 goals-against average while ranking third in the league with a .784 save percentage.
  • American was predicted to finish ninth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll after sporting a 2-5-2 league record last year, going 5-9-2 overall.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday marks the 10th all-time meeting between BU and American in a series that started in 2010.
  • BU is 7-0-2 all-time in the series, having won four of the last five matches.
  • The Terriers have outscored the Eagles 21-3 in those nine contests.
