Borzymowski Named PL Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Joins Thompson & Crowley on Academic All-PL

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Rachel Borzymowski became Boston University's first-ever Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was joined on the Academic All-Patriot League team by classmate Mikayla Crowley and graduate student Casey Thompson.
 
Thompson became the first field hockey student-athlete in Patriot League history to earn a spot on the Academic All-PL Team team in four seasons. Borzymowski earned her third straight Academic All-PL nod while Crowley's is the first of her career. BU led all schools will its three honorees.
 
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor. These honors recognize student-athletes who excel in their sport and the classroom. The awards are voted on by Patriot League field hockey sports information directors, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes. 
 
Now a two-time All-Patriot League Second Team selection, Borzymowski currently has a 3.94 GPA as a biology major in the College of Arts & Sciences. She becomes the 12th player in league history to earn Academic All-League honors in three seasons. Borzymowski played a huge role in the team allowing just seven goals in league play as her veteran presence has continued to play a factor in the team's success.
 
Thompson once again is leading the Terriers in assists as her nine this season is tied for first on the team and ranks tied for third among PL players. In addition to being an impact player in the midfield, Thompson is routinely an effective stick-stop on the team's corners. She currently sports a 3.82 GPA in the Questrom School of Business as a business administration & management major.
 
Crowley earned her first Academic All-PL honor, giving BU a league-best three honorees. She has a 3.84 GPA as a biomedical engineering major in the College of Engineering. After playing both in the midfield and up front during her career, Crowley has developed into a strong creator on offense and currently has seven points on two goals and two assists.
