Roach, Innes Earn All-Region Honors

December 7, 2022

BOSTON – Adding to their awards haul, Boston University men's soccer seniors Griffin Roach and Colin Innes have collected All-Atlantic Region honors, the United Soccer Coaches organization announced.

The Terriers earned their first All-Region award since 2017 and had multiple recipients for the first time since 2016, as both Roach and Innes were placed on the third team.

Previously named Patriot League Defender of the Year, Roach anchored a backline that claimed nine shutouts, including a 1-0 win over then-No. 9 Hampshire. He scored his first career collegiate goal with a header off a free kick in the 2-0 win against Bucknell and followed up on his sliding team save against Holy Cross with a long pass that set up the game's first goal. The Canton, Massachusetts, native became the first player in PL history to earn three straight Defender of the Week honors.

Innes ended the season tied-for-first on the team with four goals and second in points at nine total. The Olathe, Kansas, native tallied back-to-back goals against Merrimack and UMass before striking again against Army to end the month of September. Focusing more of his energy on helping direct traffic, he later scored the game winner against Bucknell and tallied his first assist of the year in the win over Lehigh.

BU ended the year ranked ninth nationally in shutout percentage (.500) and 18th in team goals against average (.823). The Terriers reached their first PL semifinal since 2017 and came up just short to Navy during the penalty kick shootout.
