Men's Rowing claims Jablonic Cup vs. Wisconsin - 2022

No. 14 Terriers Top No. 12 Wisconsin for Jablonic Cup

April 30, 2022

BOSTON - The No. 14 Boston University men's rowing team swept No. 12 Wisconsin Saturday morning on the Charles River, including a come-from-behind win in the varsity eight to win the Jablonic Cup.

Coxswain William Mulhall and stroke seat Paul Seiters helped the Terriers' top boat finish the 2,000-meter course with a time of 5:54.6, less than half a second ahead of the Badgers (5:55.0). This avenged last year's result, when Wisconsin won by .04 seconds in a photo-finish.

The Terriers earned their largest margin of victory in the second varsity eight when coxswain Peter Adams and stroke seat Bowen de Gouw helped their boat finish the course in a time of 6:01.8. Wisconsin completed the course in 6:07.2.

BU's third varsity eight, coxed by Catherine O'Neal and stroked by Dylan Fagiani, completed the sweep with a time of 6:04.3, ahead of Wisconsin's 6:06.0.

The Terriers will continue their weekend of competition against ranked opponents tomorrow when they travel to Lake Morey in Fairlee, Vermont, to race No. 5 Dartmouth for the Bill Cup and No. 6 Syracuse for the Conlan Cup.
