Field Hockey to Host Lehigh on Saturday in PL Opener

The Boston University field hockey team will kick off its Patriot League schedule on Saturday (Sept. 17) when it hosts Lehigh. Game time at Harvard's Berylson Field is set for 1 p.m.
  
TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU has won its Patriot League opener in seven of their nine seasons in the conference.
  • Junior Tess Csejka currently leads the team in points (8) and goals (4) and scored the team's lone tally in a 3-1 loss to Vermont on Sunday.
  • Senior Ellie McIntyre has a team-best three assists.
  • Senior Mikayla Crowley has five points on two goals and an assist.
  • Senior Caroline Kelly and junior Kate Thomason have split time down the middle in goal with Kelly holding the edge in save percentage (.680 – .529) while the two are tied in goals-against average at 2.67.
 
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
  • Like BU, Lehigh enters the weekend with a record of 2-4.
  • The Mountain Hawks have defeated Ball State and La Salle and are coming off a 4-3 overtime home loss to Wagner on Sunday.
  • Lehigh was picked fourth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll, one spot ahead of BU.
  • Preseason All-PL pick Sarah Bonthuis currently leads the team in both points (8) and assists (2) and is tied with junior Abbie Brown for the team lead in goals with three.
  • Freshman Maddie Kandra has impressed early with two goals and an assist.
  • Senior Maddie Kahn has played every minute in goal and currently has a 3.30 goals-against average and .608 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is 7-2 all-time against Lehigh with both of the Mountain Hawks' wins coming in the past three meetings. 
  • Last season in Bethlehem, Lehigh secured a 2-1 home victory.
