BOSTON – Riding a three-game unbeaten streak, the Boston University men's soccer team will continue Patriot League play by heading south to Navy for a Saturday afternoon matchup at 3 p.m.
The Terriers recorded three consecutive ties for the first time in program history during their most recent homestand and will face a Midshipman squad that is 3-0-3 over its last six contests with all three wins featuring a defensive shutout performance.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is 1-2-1 on the road this season after starting with a 1-0 win at then-No. 9 New Hampshire and 1-1 draw at Albany. In the last two contests, the Terriers fell at Colgate, 3-0, and at UMass, 2-1.
- The Terriers scored a goal in their first five games and later earned their first multi-goal performance on Wednesday in a 2-2 draw against Army.
- Senior Colin Innes netted his team-leading third goal of the season against the Black Knights off a penalty kick.
- In the same contest, senior Gianluca Arlotti became the fifth Terrier to score a goal, while sophomore Brian Hernandez and freshman Diego Rived became the fourth and fifth Terriers, respectively, to earn an assist.
- The reigning Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week and senior Francesco Montali owns a .813 save percentage with a 0.75 goals against average.
- Opponents are averaging 1.9 more shots per game with a 54-35 advantage in corner kicks.
SCOUTING NAVY
- During its six-game unbeaten streak, Navy shut out Lafayette (1-0), Bucknell (2-0) and Longwood (1-0) on the road and earned ties against Colgate (1-1), George Washington (3-3) and St. Francis Brooklyn (2-2) at home.
- The Mids shared one non-conference opponent with BU, posting a 1-0 home win over Saint Joseph's back in August.
- David Jackson leads the offense with five goals and 11 points, while Baba Kallie owns three goals and seven points.
- Pierce Holbrook has played every minute at net, posting a .805 save percentage with a 0.89 goals against average.
- Opponents are averaging 3.3 more shots per game and lead in corners, 54-34.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU is 6-2-0 all-time with a 1-2 record in Annapolis and all eight contests being decided by one goal apiece.
- The Terriers have won five of the last six games with the last four victories ending in a 1-0 score.
- Last season, Matulis scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute, and Montali claimed six saves as Navy posted a 12-4 advantage in shot attempts.
- In the last visit to Annapolis in 2018, BU struck first in the 51st minute, but the Midshipmen rallied with goals in the 71st and 85th minutes, respectively.
