All three of the Terriers' top Varsity 8 boats rank top-12 in the final IRCA/IRA Men's Heavyweight Poll heading into the final event of the year. BU's first V8 slots in at 11th, up two spots from the previous ranking on May 3. The Second Varsity 8 is 12th, while the Third Varsity 8 is ninth.

BU arrives to the IRAs after competing in the Eastern Sprints back on May 14. All four Terrier boats finished top-three in their respective Petite Finals as BU finished seventh overall, highlighted by the 3V8's first-place result less than a second ahead of Penn at 5:50.200. Throughout the spring, the Terriers competed against Brown and Northeastern in dual races, participated in the Pac-12 Challenge vs. Stanford, Cal, and Wisconsin, and squared off against Georgetown, Dartmouth, and Syracuse in the Lake Morey Invite.

Last year, the Terriers finished 10th overall in the Ten Eyck Award Standings for the team championship, totaling 169 points. The Second and Third Varsity 8 crews reached the Petite Finals to finish 10th and seventh, respectively. The Varsity 8 placed 14th. Yale won the team title in 2022, while Cal took first in the Varsity 8 Grand Final.
